Company Profile

DMTL is the publishing name of Dollar Media Technology Limited. We run one thing: an independent directory of social entertainment apps, written for readers in the United Kingdom.

What we do

We review social games and publish a short, ranked list of the ones worth a reader’s evening. That is the whole business. We do not operate games, we do not host them, and we do not take payments from players — for anything, at any point. When you leave our site you land on the publisher’s own page, and everything that happens after that is between you and them.

The reason a directory like this exists is simple: the app stores are not built for judgement. They rank by download velocity and rating volume, which tells you what is popular this fortnight and nothing about whether the thing is any good six months in. We look at the parts a store listing hides — how stable the platform is, how quickly support answers, whether the developer ships updates or has quietly walked away.

How a review gets written

A title enters the pipeline either because a reader asked about it or because it appeared in a publisher’s release notes. From there it goes through the four checks in a fixed order, and it can drop out at any of them.

  • Security audit. Who operates the app, where the data goes, and whether the permissions it asks for match what it does.
  • Engagement over 90 days. Retention, not installs. An app that empties out after a fortnight is not a good recommendation.
  • Support response. We open a real ticket and time the reply. Silence is a fail, not a footnote.
  • Update cadence. Whether the developer is still building or has stopped and left the lights on.

How the site pays for itself

Outbound links to game pages are commercial. That is the entire revenue model — no subscriptions, no reader payments, no paid placement. The distinction that matters is this one: a publisher can pay to be linked, and no publisher can pay to be ranked. Rankings come out of the four checks above, and when a listed app slides we move its score down and say why in the next quarterly refresh.

If you think a score is wrong, write to us. We would rather argue about it by email than leave a bad recommendation standing.

Editorial independence

No publisher gets to read a review before it goes live, request a change after it does, or see its score in advance. We do not run advertorials, and we do not publish content supplied by a game studio under our own byline. If any of that ever changes, it will be stated on this page before it appears anywhere else on the site.

Everything we list is social play for adults: 18 or over, or the legal age where you live. Nothing on this site awards real money or a real-money prize.
